Choosing the right footwear

01-Feb-2021    Admin    General

The American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society has these guidelines for proper shoe fit:

A) The ball of your foot should fit comfortably in the widest part of the shoe.
B)  should have enough depth so that your toes dont rub the tops.
C) Stand up with the shoes on and make sure you have a half-inch (about the width of your finger) between your longest toe and the front of the shoe.
D) Walk around in the shoes and make sure you dont experience any rubbing or slipping.

As a general Guideline, while buying footwear

1. Choose evenings, as the feet tend to swell up a little bit. Walk around the store to feel the shoe/slippers. Buy, only if one is comfortable.
2. Properly fitting footwear should have a wide toe box.
3. It should be airy and should allow sweat to vaporize.
4. It should be light in weight
5. Choose footwear with a proper heel counter.

It is not simply how they look but how they work that matters most.
